My Story
The Make Room began as something deeply personal...
I started hand-knitting during a season when I needed grounding and calm. The simple, rhythmic motion of working with yarn became a way to ease anxiety, slow my thoughts, and reconnect with myself. What began as a quiet, personal practice quickly turned into something more. After making my first few blankets, people began reaching out—asking me to create pieces for them, drawn to the comfort and intention woven into each one.
That response sparked the idea for The Make Room...

As a retired educator and mental health counselor, I’ve spent my career helping people learn, grow, and navigate life’s challenges. Bringing hand-knitting into this space felt like a natural extension of that work. It allows me to share a creative practice that is both meaningful and soothing—one that helps people slow down, reduce anxiety, and experience the peace that comes from creating something by hand.
With over 30 years of classroom experience, transitioning into the crafting space felt like coming home. Today, I bring that same passion for teaching into private Make & Take parties, where I guide others in learning the art of hand-knitting and creating something beautiful in a relaxed, supportive setting.

The Make Room exists to offer more than handmade blankets or classes. It’s a space to pause, to create without pressure, and to reconnect with yourself in a world that often feels rushed and overwhelming.

Here, we make room for creativity.
We make room for beautiful, unique handmade pieces.
We make room for calm.
We make room for ourselves.
